Mounds of mail at the start of the semester? Not with US Postal Solutions

As the spring semester begins nationwide, many in student housing may notice delays in receiving their mail and packages as the mail that accrued over winter break is finally sorted and collected. Just because the semester ended, doesn’t mean the mail stops coming; it may just stop getting delivered.

US Postal Solutions – The Student Housing Mail Delivery Management Experts – founded in 2000, has serviced the on-campus mail delivery needs of student housing for more than one-decade. Because these on/off campus student housing locations have chosen US Postal Solutions as their provider, there is no delay in student mail, no aging perishable packages sent by Mom, Dad or Grandpa over the holidays, no missing items and no phone calls looking for missing or delayed mail. Most importantly, the text books that were ordered online over the break, or in-time for a new class, those were already delivered too.

The need for consistent timing and professional staff for those on-campus residents who would like to receive their mail and personal belongings in a timely, efficient manner, is solved when using US Postal Solutions. Founded by college students and now in it’s 12-year, US Postal Solutions manages the mail delivery for student housing rental communities and residence halls (on/off-campus). US Postal Solutions manages the collection, sorting, delivery and forwarding of mail for student housing properties receiving a bulk drop delivery by the USPS and offers customer service 24/7/365 by telephone (live-operator), smartphone and online.

How far does your $.44 stamp go?

Many of today’s United States Postal Service critics may not realize how much effort goes into mailing a simple letter bearing $.44 worth of postage. The United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General recently detailed in an article on their blog, “Pushing The Envelope,” just how much time and effort goes into sending one-piece of mail.

The blog post also includes a poll for voters to comment on the price in which they would be willing to pay, or think their mailing efforts are “worth.” The blog post simplifies the processes, but also highlights the complexities of mailing, something many may take for granted.

US Postal Service sees net loss of $5.7B for the last nine months

THIRD QUARTER FINANCIALS
REVENUE FROM SHIPPING SERVICES INCREASES
The Postal Service ended its third quarter of fiscal year 2011 with a net loss of $3.1 billion, compared to a net loss of $3.5 billion for the same period in FY 2010. Total mail volume declined to 39.8 billion pieces for the quarter, compared to 40.9 billion pieces in the third quarter of FY 2010.

Net losses for the nine months ending June 30 amount to $5.7 billion in 2011 compared to $5.4 billion in 2010.

Even with significant cost reductions and revenue growth initiatives, current financial projections indicate the Postal Service will have a cash shortfall and will have reached its statutory borrowing limit by the end of the fiscal year. Absent substantial legislative change, USPS will be forced to default on payments to the federal government.

Despite an overall dire financial situation, the Postal Service reports increased revenue for the quarter in certain areas. Standard Mail revenue increased 1.7 percent in the third quarter, and Package Services revenue increased 3.2 percent. Revenue from Shipping Services, including Express Mail and Priority Mail, increased 7.3 percent for the quarter.

Information appeared in the August 26th issue of  PCC Insider, an industry specific, US Postal Service electronic newsletter.
